Year Two have been feeding the birds twice a week this term, and have seen a male and female pheasant regularly, as well as a robin, a blue tit and lots of pigeons!

The pheasant stays in England all year round, and lives in fields where there is some cover nearby. It eats seeds, grain and shoots. It makes a ‘kok kok kok’ call.

The robin is around all year, and eats worms, seeds, fruits and insects. It has a pretty song, and sometimes sing at night next to streetlights.

The blue tit lives in woodland but moves to gardens in cold weather. It is very common anywhere near hedgerows and trees and eats insects, caterpillars, seeds and nuts.

The wood pigeon is common in large numbers throughout the year. It eats crops like cabbages, sprouts, peas and grain. Also buds, shoots, seeds, nuts and berries.
